It's been a crazy few months and unfortunately Bill's been somewhat lax in his job as family documentarian. So, in an effort to get caught up, here's a whirlwind review of the Summer of 2013.

We had a lovely Father's Day trip to the tide pools at Abalone Cove Shoreline Park.

Bill had biked, making the 1/2 mile walk back uphill carrying one or both children a bit of a challenge. Of course nobody had a hard time walking along the flat beach.

The new backyard has afforded many new sporting opportunities.

It's nice to round third and truly head for home.

After a great two years at Redwood Village Carson came for his last day on June 28th.

While Carson will miss this playground, Summer is right behind him, and started at Redwood hersslf one week later.

When you're the middle of three Summer birthday's, and it falls on the same day as preschool graduation, you take your candles in whatever baked good they happen to come in.

Not to say my birthday wasn't super (although Carson found Pedro and Aiden's to be slightly more fun).

Of course the real party was yet to come. The Bailey's made their first visit that didn't involve a trip to the airport.

The combo housewarming & birthday party had a little something for everybody. There were bubbles...

Birthday cupcakes...

Basketball...

And of course bounce houses.

Most importantly, we kicked the keg.

With Birthdays come gifts, although in this case Biddy was the the recipient.

The youngest Summer visitor to 204 Maple, Fiona Naruse (daughter of Taro & Nicole) benefited from all the practice with Biddy.

Like her Aunt Colleen, Summer has always been a solid gift receiver.

Also on the list of birthday gifts was a classic backyard item that strangely neither Laura nor I had as a kid. Trust us when we say the film of the kids slipping and sliding is way cuter than that of Laura and Bill.

Just because we'd already had the party didn't mean Summer would miss out on some Birthday baked goods.

As is often the case, Ging-Ging and Pops visited for a chilly LA Summer weekend.

They were skippered around the Marina by Captain Carson.

Pops managed to keep tabs on Summer for a short while.

But she eventually managed to get away.

The Reds were in town for a four game series. The corporate seats were the closest Laura and I had ever been to the field.

Bill had great company (if not great seats) up on the cheap seats on Sunday to see a loss.

As Summer drew to a close we finally entered the ocean going portion of the year.

Before long it was back to the school routine, with cereal and hugs at the breakfast bar every morning.
