Sea World with Uncle Ken

Uncle Ken made a visit to the west coast this weekend, and although it would have been more appropriate to visit the Geauga Lake Sea World for old times sake, we're apparently a few years too late for that.

Earlier in the week Summer put some points on the board at Coach Mike Soccer camp.  Gooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll!

We all took in the Shamu show safely from the confines of the upper deck, well beyond the splash or drown the trainer zones.

We had concerns that Summer might not remember Ken, since it had been nine months since their last visit.  Obviously those fears were misplaced.

Unlike our last visit to Sea World, Carson is now tall enough to ride on the rides, including this trip on Journey to Atlantis.  You will get wet on this ride.

While the boys took in a ride Summer had some time to swim wild and free.

Suffice to say, not everybody was happy about it.

Fortunately we found the strength to press on with our visit.

After two days in San Diego it was time to leave Sea World.  Not before crossing bridges...

and tunnels.

But it wouldn't be a visit to sea world without doing a little swimming of our own at the Hyatt Mission Bay.

Loyal readers of the blog will of course remember this slide from our last visit to Sea World.

Mice, Grandparents and Science

Grandma brought along Summer's Halloween costume, which may only get 20 or 30 wears before October 31st.

Grandma continued the arts and crafts work while visiting as well.

Summer got in some kicks at a Coach Derek soccer camp this week.  Although it's a little early to tell, it appears she might take after her Grampa and Ging-Ging and be a southpaw.

We braved triple digit temperatures to head down to the California Science Center on the train.

Once there Carson headed straight for the snowmobile to cool off.

We took over the California Science Center's newsroom to help report on the latest star from the east coast that has decided to call LA home.

As a famous Cincinnati newsman once said, "Take care of yourselves, and each other."

If that isn't enough, call in the Rainbow Warrior.

Labor Day Weekend

Welcome back.  We had a fantastic Labor Day weekend, and here's just a little of the photographic evidence.

Friday night we hit Manhattan Creamery, where of course the kids eschewed ice cream in favor of cake pops and cookies.

With a little sugar in their system the kids raced down the pier.

Summer was quite content.

Carson enjoyed his time on the pier as well.

On Sunday we did our best to blend in at the aquarium.

The kids forced down some homemade popsicles on the ride to the beach on Saturday night.

Despite being the one month of the year when you really don't need a wetsuit, Carson and Summer have insisted on them lately.

They each ride the waves in their own way.

Though Carson's approach often ends in the occasional wipeout.

It's typically intentional.
