Birthdays and Babyjoggers

It's been a very eventful week with Laura celebrating another year with cake.

Later in the week we set out to avenge a second place finish from our first baby jogger race from a couple years back.

With the exception of a couple of skateboarding punks we did bring home the gold.

An open house drummed us out of town to Santa Barbara where we took in the earth day celebration.

Next week should bring more fiddling around in Los Angeles, with no open houses or other activities to pull us away from Playa Del Rey.

Drumming, Dinosaurs and Dressage

We're keeping the blog on schedule this week with two posts in as many weeks. The whole family took in a concert at St. Anastasia school over the weekend. Summer has really figured out how to charm Laura...

As well as Bill.

We danced to the beat of a different drummer at the Rhythm Child concert at St. Anastasia school. Their previous gig had been on a slightly more famous lawn.

Our full weekend continued with a visit to the LA Natural History Museum. Add one more cultural/educational institution membership to this list.

Just a short post this week. With a trip to Santa Barbara and Laura's birthday next week we'll have to cowboy up if we want to keep our consecutive blog streak intact.

We certainly don't want to slide back into bad habits of waiting a month between posts.

Spring Break

The blog set off for adventure the past 10 days in Venice, Florida.

We definitely managed to get wet on the trip, with almost as much time spent in the water as outside of it.

But it wasn't all swimming.  Summer and I cut a sandy rug at the Venice drum circle.

Though she was equally happy to twirl on her own.

Meanwhile, Carson's alter ego Aquaman was controlling the waves.

We took a trip inland to Dakin Dairy farm to see the source of all the milk Summer would drink.

Once there we were put to work a bit ourselves.

Carson prepared for our summer trip to Canada.

I fully anticipate him being more successful than me when it comes to catching fish.

Laura most definitely will as well.

Carson struck a Hasselhoffian pose at the beach.

Summer was equally determined to get keep things wet on the trip.

She showed Laura a thing or two about how to catch a wave.

Carson was equally good on the boogie board.

They both impressed most in the pool. You may recall this jump from earlier.

After all the exercise the citrus flavored soft serve was well deserved.

We took in another visit to the Venice splash park.

Summer and Carson improvised a tub to hold onto some of the water.

Aunt Peg visited on Thursday and brought along a trio of dancing friends that captured Summer's attention.

As is our tradition due to diminished airfares we celebrated Easter Saturday with a egg hunt around the house.

Summer searched high and low to find all the eggs she could.

Carson on the other hand relied more on his spidey sense to track them down.

The bunny brought along some new shades for the Florida sunshine.

Carson & Grampa broke out their matching fishing shirts for a final fishing expedition in the backyard pond.

Summer & Grandma were content to relax on the grass and watch.

The newest and most exciting addition to the vehicle stable in Florida was definitely the golf cart, which took many an evening cruise around the neighborhood.

While it wasn't often that we found ourselves out of swimsuits, on occasion we managed some country club finery.  My pants here are clearly an homage to something Pops probably wore in the 70s (and of course still owns).

Before leaving town Summer and Carson considered travel to Florida on the back of a sea lion that the Aquarium of the Pacific.  I'm not sure Carson could have held on long enough for that trip.

Summer got her first official haircut in advance of the trip, with Lynn doing the honors.
