Sorry for the Weather East Coast & Midwest

I want you... To read this blog entry and be jealous of our outdoorsiness in January.

Despite temps dropping as low as 52 degrees, and winds strong enough for kite flying we braved the weather for multiple trips to the park this weekend.

Summer's new game of up and down -- which involves: 1) falling down in the grass, 2) getting back up 3) repeat -- made for a lot of fun.

Although the swings are still her favorite.

Laura continues to attempt to recreate the famous swinging shot of Carson that Kevin Gallagher took a couple years back.

Carson started tennis lessons in El Segundo this week.  He's definitely got the ready position down.

Summer has started to attempt the steps on her own, but likes to take lots of breaks on the way downstairs.  So many that Laura was able to get the camera ready for a shot.

And just so our relatives under snow don't get too jealous, it did rain for almost 3 hours this past weekend.  Of course all that was left by the time swimming ended at lunch time was a few puddles.

ELLLLLLLL......EMMMMMMMMMMM....YOU YOU YOU YOU

The California Jordan's took in their first college basketball game at Gersten Arena over the long weekend.

Sadly our little neighborhood school LMU was just barely held off by top 25 Gonzaga, but it was a fantastic experience nonetheless.

With the cousins in town we got to open the last of our Christmas gifts.  They had a distinctive Delhi flair for Summer.

Mary Jane and Vivian were quite coordinated, despite picking out their clothes independently of each other.

After all the fun of presents and the basketball game we needed to keep the kids grounded with a little ditch digging.

We wrapped up the long weekend with a trip to the California Science Center.

Despite not visiting the aquarium, we still took in some fish at the Science Center.

After reports of children falling into the lagoon, it's good that we have the dark knight around to keep our neighborhood safe.

Hear that Bengal Growlin...

It can be easy to get tangled up in things after the holidays, but the blog is back with just a handful of photos to start the week.

Last weekend we took a ride out out to the LA Zoo in the morning to enjoy some warm inland temperatures.

As you can see, Carson & Summer have already learned a lot about being Bengals fans.

This past weekend we enjoyed one of the last gifts of Christmas as Aunt Colleen and Scott stopped by for dinner.

The pillow pets were a big hit.

Almost as good as the regular pets.

Dreaming of a White (Sand) Christmas

The California Jordan's switched coasts to Destin Florida for their holiday festivities.

As any of our fellow travelers could attest, Summer did not stay this happy on the plane for long.

To add a little adventure we first stopped off in New Orleans where the kids got a taste of Bourbon Street.

They got in on the action right away.

The beignets were a big hit at Cafe Du Monde.

We ducked out of a downpour into the Aquarium of the Americas.  Unlike :Long Beach it is thankfully all indoors.

Despite the glass, Carson still felt the need to keep an eye on the albino alligator.

Nice to see that the Gulf of Mexico exhibit is grudgingly sponsored by the same people that did their best to pollute it just last year.

We closed the New Orleans leg of our trip with a visit to Celebration in the Oaks at City Park.  Carson felt more comfortable getting close to an illuminated version of an alligator.

A short 4+ hour drive put us in the Sunshine State.  Both Laura and I were happy to note that the Florida Welcome Station off Interstate 10 also hands out free samples of orange and grapefruit juice as the one on I-75 did in our youth.

Thankfully, despite all the travels, Santa managed to find us in Destin.

The traditional Jordan Christmas morning steps picture.  Thankfully the internet didn't exist back in the 80s, so I'm unable to link to the famed yule log version of this picture.

Aunt Caroline worked hard to acquire all the beads for one of Summer's favorite presents.

Ging-Ging gave a motivated present, as she's always wanted a Doctor in the family.  Only another 23 years before that could become a reality.

Carson and Summer were fortunate to get in some quality time with their east coast relatives like Uncle Ken.

Aunt Caroline.

& Aunt Emily.

We were able to get in plenty of recreation while in Florida.  Here Summer hikes around Jolee Island Nature Park.

We were regular visitors to the world famous indoor/outdoor Tops'l pool.

Both Summer and Carson were able to take advantage of professional tennis instruction from Uncle Ken.

There was so much activity you had to remember to occasionally relax and read a book.

Or kick back on the couch.
