The Jeffersonian Ideal of Beach Living

Welcome to everybody that's visiting because they received Summer's birth announcement in the mail this week. Hope you enjoy the blog.

As usual, it was another bright week in southern California.

It was enough to get Summer to sit up and take notice.

Samantha took a break from her infant and two year old to visit with our infant and two year old.

Carson got to ride the back forty at the Richmond Street Fair in El Segundo.

In case we decide to take up the Jeffersonian life of the yeoman farmer, Carson is ready.

Unlike his cousins, he seems to prefer bunnies over chickens.

Summer seems to be perfectly happy living by the beach.

Children Growing Up, Old Friends Getting Older

Cousin Vivian cashed in on the fire station birthday that Laura won at a Santa Barbara fundraiser a few months back, and as loyal readers of the blog know, we like nothing better than featuring firefighters.

Laura continued her attempts to take the perfect lamb picture with Summer this week, and seems to be getting pretty close.

Summer finally got a chance to meet her Uncle Jeff, leaving only Aunt Emily unmet amongst Aunts & Uncles.

She had other familiar company on the ground in Santa Barbara this weekend.

The Santa Barbara trip was precipitated by Bill flying to DC to take in a Rush show.

If only they had been a power septet.

The next Neil Peart?

With Bill gone, Carson went looking for other male role models.

As well as borrowing "nice bunny" for a little comforting.

As I was gone only 36 hours, and half of that time was spent in and around firetrucks, I'm not even certain I was missed.

There's a reason we only gave out the plastic helmets at Carson's party.

Hey Cuz!

Baby Jogger 10k!

After months of preparation (and then having a baby and barely working out at all for the last month), Carson and Bill competed in the Santa Monica 5000's 10k Baby Jogger race.

In their first USATF sanctioned effort they came in a respectable 2nd place amongst the jogger pushing crowd.

Carson did double duty by also participating the the tot trot immediately following the 10k.

We placed a little better in the race we did together.

After a chilly morning at the races, Summer was happy to be out of the cold...

And still with enough time to squeeze in a trip to the gym of her own.

The Competition Begins

Carson begins his 119th week of life this week, and this marks our 120th blog post. However, after only seven weeks of life Summer has already had the solo headlining photo 3 times. While I'm not sure I can keep that pace going forever, if they turn out anything like my siblings it won't be long before that count starts getting scrutinized.

Aunt Caroline was in town this week to run the Disneyland Half Marathon and bond with her favorite niece.

On Friday Carson took advantage of the half day at UMG and came in to help me finish up a few things.

Saturday we went for a family boat ride around the marina.

Despite what this picture would suggest, Carson has his sea legs about him and had a great time.

In fact, he's quite in touch with the Ocean,

and is totally prepared to swim with the sharks.

The photo sessions continued for Summer. She must be tiring of them, because she said she wouldn't sit for another one unless we produced...

One million dollars.

Enough bad jokes, time to go out while we're hot, since we're clearly on a roll.
