Summer Week 2, Carson Week 109

Either the binkies have gotten larger or the children have gotten smaller (I'm fairly certain it's the latter).

With the first week behind her Summer was ready for her closeup.

We had a few submissions sent in from our Santa Barbara bureau after our Sunday night deadline last week that were able to make this week's print edition.

Summer got plenty of QT with Grandma over the past week.

She enjoyed her first bath at home almost as much as the ones in the hospital.

Meanwhile, soccer camp has given way to tee-ball camp for the new few weeks.

You can't maintain your status as the best baker in the world without plenty of practice. Carson's most significant contributions were in the icing tasting portion of the cupcake preparation.

The Baileys came down for a Friday afternoon visit with their newest cousin.

The Bailey's dropped off Grampa for a few more days to conclude his California visit.

As her outfit suggests, Summer was feeling lucky to have Grandma around.

Family Fun Days Have Started

We're through the looking glass here people, or at least the clear plastic crib that Summer called home during her hospital stay.

First, a little cleanup from Wednesday. I was remiss in not posting this excellent picture of Summer with her Aunt Beth, who made the trip down from Santa Barbara to welcome her into the world.

Carson still had plenty of entertainment with Grandma and Grampa around this week.

He still had soccer camp to attend.

As well as a new friend to meet.

He had a very good visit to the Hospital on Thursday.

He certainly wasn't the only one. Liz Mead (mom to playground friends Strummer & CW) paid us a visit at UCLA Santa Monica.

As did Aunt Colleen and Scott.

Thea got to meet her newest charge on Friday.

Before we sent her off to be raised by the Egyptians. These were staged by a professional that works with the hospital (though Laura actually took this photo). To see the pro's efforts click here and enter password 0714summerannjordan

Some work friends stopped by as well. Jenny Brian from Universal made an appearance.

As did Stephanie...

And Danielle from Deloitte.

While Laura and I recovered at UCLA Santa Monica, Carson enjoyed a long weekend at Santa Barbara summer camp as run by Aunt Beth & Uncle Jeff.

Of course it wasn't all fun and games, Carson had to put in a little work for the family business as well.

Finally on Sunday we packed up and headed home. This picture may look a little familiar.

As should this one.

The Official Start of Summer

It was a very busy day for Summer. First she was born and finally got a chance to stretch out.

The nurses placed her under a heater and things were starting to get comfortable until they had to suck out her nose.

Followed by allowing a true amateur to perform a little surgery.

Later in the day this got revised to 8 lbs, 8 oz, but this was the first official measurement.

With all of the serious medical work completed we got a chance to catch up.

Grandma and Grampa got in on the action as well.

It looks like Carson and I will remain severely outnumbered on the Morris side of the family.

New Camera Before the New Baby

In the proud tradition of Sandy Jordan, Carson and I like to match on occasion.

We returned to sports camp for another week of soccer. Carson shows he isn't afraid to go for a really low header.

Laura got an Amazon prime subscription, which has put a few more of these around the house to play with. This one in particular brought our new camera that should improve the quality of the shots from here on out (though not this one, it was still charging at this point).

But we fired it up early the next day as Carson greeted the day with some yoga.

We went to Plaza El Segundo to allow Laura a little time to tinker with the new camera, and Carson a little time to run around in the fountain. Here Carson examines the intermittent squirters a little too closely.

Of course once he got hit with a little water, it didn't take long for Carson to end up topless.

It's unclear if Laura got any better at taking photos, but Carson certainly had fun.

Carson had a rare opportunity to bust out his rain gear in July this weekend when a downpour hit LA.

But we were right back to normal summer conditions shortly thereafter.

Happy Fourth of July

The excitement continued this week for Carson. On Wednesday Carson, Laura and Thea spent some time at the Los Angeles Natural History Museum.

Earlier in the week he did some light reading with Aunt Colleen while Laura and I celebrated my birthday.

Storyhour this week came with a bubble theme, and Carson volunteered to be the boy in the bubble.

Of course with Laura continuing to be home there must have been some baking done.

As if his calendar wasn't full enough already, Carson also started sports camp with Coach Derek.

Loyal readers of the blog may remember a similar picture taken a couple years ago.

Of course there's been an important addition since then.

Even with all the other activities there was still time for some patriotism.

We spent the fourth on the beach with a party at Strummer and CW's.

As the sun set on the 4th, Carson was looking forward to the family's last full week as a power trio.
