Halloween Here We Come

With Halloween only a week away, it was time to hit the pumpkin patch.

Carson had a hard time narrowing down his favorites, but after much deliberation we were able to settle on a few.

We loaded all the pumpkins, including Carson, into the wagon and then began to explore the rest of the farm activities

For the second week in a row Carson got to ride a tractor. Barring our neighborhood park being planted with soybeans this is probably the longest such streak he will ever have.

He also completed the exceedingly difficult Maize Maze with Uncle Jeff (we won't mention those who couldn't find their way out)

We took a hayride (the bumps made it hard to get all of Bill in this shot)

Carson decided to join the craziness of the hay toss area

After the pumpkin patch it was time to relax at the Bailey's annual pumpkin carving party.

Bill didn't have much help carving the pumpkin, but he seemed to have fun.

Even though Halloween is still a few days away, Carson learned a little about the upcoming November holiday during his stare-down with the turkey.

Congrats Uncle Ken & Aunt Emily!

It was a big week for the California Jordan's, as the weekend of Uncle Ken and Aunt Emily's wedding had finally arrived.

It was time to pack up and leave our little house this week to take our show on the road.

Our New York visit started with a trip to see the Gallaghers, where they served us only the finest NYC pizza.

We got to meet and spend some quality time with 3 month old Penelope.

Laura (aka the tummy time whisperer) even taught her a thing or two during our stay.

Bill on the other hand just got pooped on.

With all the rain there was no chance we would risk Carson melting by going outside. Instead we spent the day at LIC Kids gym. For any of you planning to spend time in the greater Long Island City area, it was a great play space for our rainy Thursday afternoon.

Carson also managed to crack the code of the famed information security professional and bang away at Kevin's computer.

Friday we headed north to Middletown, NY to meet the rest of the Jordan family. Pops proved to be a big hit.

He was perhaps second only to the swimming pool on Carson's list of favorite things about the weekend.

We enjoyed a lovely rehearsal dinner on Friday night.

Maybe we should spend more time listening to the Kid's jazz records that Bill brought home, because Carson clearly appreciated the band during the coctail hour.

Although he liked the funk band later as well.

We stifled our yawns as best we could to party late into the night.

Here's the expanded lineup of Jordan children. Carson is no longer the newest addition!

All the time with Pops must have given Carson some good jokes, like the one he shares with Aunt Caroline here.

Although Laura would prefer that we edit it out of the picture, the binky did help us go til nearly the end of the reception.

No rest for the weary on Sunday, as it was time to go see the Alpacas at Aunt Emily's parent's house.

Emily's dad Dean gave Carson a ride around in the tractor, although like the golf carts the previous day, it was almost as good standing still.

With the excitement of the wedding behind us we headed back down to the city and spent a morning at the Central Park Zoo. As you can tell, Carson is quite aware the penguins are cold.

It was plenty cold outside as well, although that's just fake turtle egg, and not snow.

The hat and gloves weren't just for show though, as Carson braved temperatures all the way down into the mid-thirties!

Fortunately he could personally thank the creatures who provided his wool sweater while he was there.

A Bird on the Pier is Worth a Picture with a Brush?

The pier aquarium was closed, but that didn't stop Carson from seeing animals during a trip to the Manhattan Beach pier.

Carson took his first Picaso, Mommy & Me in El Segundo this week. He had quite the impressive creative output, knocking out four different pieces during the 45 minute class.

No amount of rooting would get Maryland to a win this weekend.

A dog may never be in his future, but he can walk his frog as often as he likes.

We made a return trip to the El Segundo playground, home of the play firetruck.

While the forecast doesn't make it seem likely, hopefully the sun will be shining like this again in Woodstock, New York this weekend.

Hometown Fair!

We'd been eyeing this past weekend for quite some time. Not only was it Laura's triumphant return to the Manhattan Beach 10k, it was also the Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair.

Day one saw Carson take his very first trip to a Bounce House.

After that kind of excitement we had to come home and circle the wagons to prepare for day 2...

Which of course included a petting zoo with goats, rabbits, chicken and pigs.

Fortunately paramedics were on hand in case the excitement got to be too much.

In all the excitement of the fair it was hard to say where the weekend went.
