Double, Double Toil and Trouble;

It was another busy week of stirring the pot for Carson.

Although it's hard to see in this shot, Carson read a little with Dad.

Carson took advantage of the MLK holiday to have friends over for playgroup. The living room was redone to be more suitable for seven month olds.

After playgroup Carson had to inspect the toys to ensure none had grown legs. Of course, some already had legs, like the wild giraffe, Sophie, that Carson stalks here.

Even though he doesn't watch much TV, that doesn't stop him from playing with the remotes.

When that doesn't work you can always fiddle with the knobs at the source. Carson already understands our A/V setup better than his grandparents.

Ging-Ging and Pops in California

Ging-Ging and Pops were back in California this week, and brought with them some warm weather (although not from Cincinnati where it was in the 20s all week). It was plenty warm in SoCal for Carson to get some sand between his toes.

Over the long weekend Carson got in some quality reading with Ging-Ging...

and Pops was good for a few laughs.

Pops and Ging-Ging accompanied Carson to the Manhattan Beach Aquarium, where he ignored the signs about not touching.

Earlier in the week Carson showed up his burgeoning crawling skills for his nanny Thea.

Pops was happy to see Carson's love of peas for multiple reasons. 1) It shows the Delhi roots are still strong, and 2) Laura has come up with a fabulous pea eating song:

Yummy Peas
Yummy Peas
Yummy Peas in my Tummy Please

Unfortunately the weekend wasn't all smiles. Carson didn't exactly enjoy his swim lesson...

Also, Ging-Ging needed a book to explain what happened in the Georgetown/Duke game. The next page says, "If you shoot it very well and play for the visiting team at Cameron Indoor Stadium, you will be assessed a technical while sitting on the bench."

Exploring New Places

Carson and I started off the weekend being twins in celebration of Georgetown ending their losing streak by knocking off Providence.

As you saw with the cups video last week, Carson has added mobility to his repertoire of skills. So despite starting him off in the living room he can get to the kitchen when the mood strikes him.

Carson isn't one to let obstacles get in his way either. Here he plows right through the exersaucer on his way to see mommy.

Another change this week was getting vertical in the tub. No longer content to lay down to take a bath, Carson now sits up and splashes away.

This comes in handy when he doesn't have the tub to himself.

The number of years til that picture is used to embarrass at least one of its subjects is sadly far too short.

Christmas Week 2

We kick off the second half of the Christmas vacation pics with a snap that Otis Redding approves.

After we finished going through all the loot from Santa, Carson sat down for a picture with his grandparents and cousins.

Once back in LA, Carson and Bill paused for a pic before braving the elements to do a little sledding.

For all those in the east that feel the southern Californian kids are deprived of winter experiences, this photo and video should set you straight.

As you can see, the sand may not quite have the same glide as fresh powder.

Once the Bailey's headed back in Santa Barbara, Carson had his "pick" of which grandparent to play with.

After the craziness of the dual visit with the grandparents and cousins, we enjoyed a relaxing week off eating Christmas cookies and watching football. All the terp clothing in this shot was successful in bringing about a bowl game win for the terps.

It wasn't 100% relaxation, as Carson continues to work hard to protect his play mat from the stacked cups.
