Another Week of Firsts

It's been an crazy week here in SoCal. As I'm sure many of you know, there were a number of fires around the area yesterday. They're all pretty far from us, but that didn't stop the smoke from rolling past on it's way out to sea.

That's not LA's famous smog, but smoke that obscures the sunrise on Sunday. Which just meant we needed to focus on indoor activities like swimming.

Despite having to stay indoors we still had a few fun firsts on the week. On Tuesday Carson slept through the night for the first time, and did it again on Friday. However, it's hard to photographically depict the concept of not waking up (especially when I myself did not wake up either). Much easier to show is Carson's first meal:

Yummy sweet potatoes!

Also related to eating, we headed out to a dinner party Saturday night (well, 5pm) where Carson got to hang with his friend Nikhil.

Living the Bi-Coastal Life

Carson started the week by wrapping up his visit with Grandma and Grampa in Florida, but, as you can see, didn't stay away from the beach too long once he got back to LA.

Before he let him leave Grampa put him to work on the plantation.

For his efforts he was rewarded by his grandparents with a tasty (and I'm sure very clean) seashell to suck on.

However they couldn't do anything about the decrease in daylight. Regardless Carson wasn't deterred from one more east coast swing.

This weekend Carson got his first chance to have his run of the place while Laura and I were out at a wedding in the O.C.

In addition to getting a trip to Manhattan Beach (see the top picture), he also had a personal in-crib puppet show courtesy of his cousins.

To Grandma and Grampa's we go

To celebrate Fall and the fact that Mom is still on Maternity leave, we decided to take a trip to Florida and pretend that our votes count. In addition to watching lots of Obama and McCain ads, we managed to fit in some good old fashioned Florida fun like...

Swimming in the pool

Practicing our floating

Checking out the Fish in Grampa's koi pond

Visiting with Great Aunt Peg and Great Uncle Tom who drove up from Naples to meet Carson

Swinging

Posing with the jack-o-lantern (this falls under the category of good old fashioned Halloween Fun, but we’ll go with it anyway…)

And of course getting lots of love from Grandma and Grampa
