Poll Results Revealed
The blog is taking the weekend off, but we couldn't leave you totally post-less, so let's revisit the old-picture poll from a few weeks back...
So who were these people?
For those that were paying attention you'll know that Bill's picture won decisively, 20-4, so I guess I can stop asking if he's getting his dark hair from the milkman.
Since we made the grandparents dig out the old photos, we might as well keep this game going:

Those Lazy Days of Summer
We had a quiet week here in LA which gave us a chance to do those fun things that you can only do during summer's waning days, like going for walks on the beach

Taking time to stop and smell the roses

Sitting around

And getting in a good laugh

Come to think of it, we can do these activities year round here in SoCal, so for those of you in less temperate locations, enjoy the last of your summer weather!

Aunts & Uncles & Ging-Gings (oh my)
Carson was excited to meet the rest of his family this week when Uncle Ken and Aunt Colleen visited (with Ging-Ging making a return appearance).
Like his mother, Carson found Uncle Ken pretty funny. He brought some stylish hats that might still be a little too big even for Carson's huge heed (mouse-over to literally turn out the lights).
Carson wasn't as sure about Aunt Colleen at first, giving her a swift kick in the chest and dropping something else on her hoodie (thankfully not pictured).
Perhaps it was because she used a similarly secure hold on him that her older sister had tried out a few weeks earlier.
Regardless, once Zippy made an appearance he was happy to hang with her.
Ken got his chance to check out the neighborhood with Carson attached, including this first trip to the playground.
Additionally Carson took his Aunt and Uncle out to Pacos for some SoCal Mexican food.
Ging-Ging tried her best, but it was hard keeping Carson's attention with so much excitement in the apartment.

Citius Altius Fortius
Faster, Higher, Stronger is the official Olympic motto, and in the spirit of the games we bring you Carson's very own Olympic week.
ENDURANCE: With Bill away in Vegas trying to win Carson some new shoes, we tested his endurance with a trip to Santa Barbara to visit his very excited cousins.
Here he hangs with Mary Jane and Vivian

And he participates in the ever popular group bathing event

Carson and MJ stay loose with some stretching

STRENGTH:
Although Carson has been rolling from his front to his back for about three weeks now, he decided to increase his degree of difficulty for the games and roll from his back to his tummy. He landed the trick successfully three times to a roar of applause from the team, however when the cameras were on, he cracked under the pressure leading to our own "Agony of Defeat"
So, it was back to fundamentals and more training; with that, Carson decided to hit the gym

AGILITY:
Since swimming is known to keep athletes loose, Carson went for his second lesson and spent some time with his Dad in the pool

To enable Carson to better zig and zag through LA sidewalk traffic, he encouraged us to let him face outward in the Bjorn

BROTHERHOOD:
Carson celebrated the spirit of the games at his first party

He was appropriately attired for the event, wearing his red, white and blue

Finally, after a long week it was time to hit the showers

2 Months Old!
Sunday marked Carson's second full month of life, and he did his best to close out the month in style with a whole bunch of excitement.
One new addition to the blog this week is video, and although it's a week old now, here's a fun clip of Carson playing with Aunt Beth and cousin Mary Jane:
Mary Jane can be forgiven for not knowing the whole song, Laura's been trying to memorize it all week and still doesn't quite have it.
Of course, there were more songs for Laura to learn this week since Mommy & Me classes began in Santa Monica. I'm told that songs were learned there as well, but so far the lyrics have eluded her. We do have a DVD, so perhaps I can pick them up from there. Fortunately Laura does know her way around a pool as you can see in this clip from Carson's first trip to the Lenny Krayzelburg Swim School.
Sadly we don't have many other shots since the camera memory card ran out of space, but Carson did survive his first dunking, and will be back in the pool for lesson #2 this week. We do have more swim pics from another parent, but so far that email hasn't come through.
After all that excitement during the week we had a low key weekend hanging around the house. That didn't stop us from plenty of kicking and smiling:
Flashing the occasional gang sign:
and hanging out in the bjorn:
Then we wrapped up the weekend with a little dinner party with friends Dan & Danielle, both of whom receive high marks for baby preparedness (they can probably skip the whole getting a dog step):
